I have known this family many years and that they have an excellent reputation . When I recently moved into a new home it was only natural that when I decided to get my tress trimmed I would call them. Stan came out and took a look at all our trees and explained to us everything and more that we wanted to know about them. We were having trouble with too much shade and grass not growing so it was recommended that we trim our trees way back and reshape them. We took Stans recommendation and they showed up on the scheduled time on time and did an excellent job of getting everything done that we agreed to. Everything was cleaned up and other than our trees looking completely different, one would never know they were there. The price was very reasonable, especially for the amount of work that they did. I highly recommend Tree Shepards for your tree trimming and will definitely use them again in the future.

Outstanding work as always. When there as a bit of confusion over a service fee on my invoice, Tree Shepherds patiently worked through the problem when I wasn’t so patient. Highly recommended.

Using Tree Shepherds was an awesome experience! A team of 4 worked for a full 8 hours ( in 100 degree heat ) and did a fantastic job for a reasonable price. The work was well outlined prior and throughly completed. They completely cleaned up and hauled off all trees/debris. I would 100% recommend this company and will definitely use again!!

Tree Shepherds are fantastic. I got a quote and the work was completed all within two days. Beyond the fortunate scheduling, the arborist was incredibly knowledgeable and even gave me some guidance for a few recently planted trees not included in my scope of work with them. I was super impressed with the crew, they took extra care through my yard and around the shed, ensuring they left everything better than before. They were friendly, knowledge, efficient, and went the extra mile. The quote itself was a very fair price. Why go anywhere else? These folks will take care of you.

Update: One year later another great team! We had a dangerous tree from a neighbor hanging over but wanted it handled with care due to wildlife living in it. We also needed a crepe trimmed back from a fence line – perfect. Then a bar installed to keep our oak strong. That’s my favorite tree. Marcus, Marco and Sebastian you were all so kind. Thank you for everything! Original review follows: Tree Shepherds has been a model company to work with so far. I’m glad I checked around with a couple places because when they came to our house the difference was astonishing. Stan was highly knowledgeable in his appraisal. He was kind and professional and I immediately felt comfortable. Tree Shepherds has a residential stump grinder (a previous place wanted me to disassemble my wooden fence) and they take away everything they cut down. The other place was going to leave it. I was feeling stressed out. When Joseph, Marco and Marcus arrived the day of our work it was with a warm greeting. They worked quickly and thoroughly and left my trees healthy and beautiful. They didn’t need to go into anyone else’s yards and didn’t put pressure on me like this other company had. I’m so glad I chose Tree Shepherds. They had such nice reviews and I hope mine will help others decide to go with them, too. I’d also like to mention Kim who handles the calls and billing. She went above and beyond. I’m currently scheduling a second appointment to have a stump removed. I’ll update if anything changes but as for now, glowing five stars!

A couple of weeks ago, Tree Shepherds completed a big project for us: taking down two mature 50+ foot trees with trunk diameters of 16” and 18” located uncomfortably close to the house with one overhanging our primary bedroom. One was diseased and the other was weakened by a 2025 storm which brought down 25% of the crown. We didn’t take this decision lightly; they had to come down. We chose Tree Shepherds for three main reasons: a) professional Arborists, b) fully insured, and c) OSHA certified. In other words, Tree Shepherds was an excellent choice to do this project properly and safely. If you are looking for only the best price, look elsewhere. As they say, “Skilled workers aren’t as cheap. Cheap workers aren’t as skilled”. John Pinney is the certified Arborist who came out to do the initial inspection, and my wife was impressed by his knowledge and experience as well as his warm enthusiasm for all things trees. She said it was like getting the most interesting science lesson, standing there in our back yard. We also chose to have the stumps ground down below grade, and our one remaining “very healthy” 50-foot tree given a haircut. The crew was polite, cheerful and friendly and they completed the main part of the work in a day. They were also very careful; one wrong move could have caved in our roof or taken down a wall. Cleanup was excellent – almost no trace of the work remained, except for a welcome pile of firewood (my wife had asked if we could have some of the smaller pieces for our chiminea and they obliged with a cut-to-size pile that filled my new 4×4 foot crib). A couple of days later, the stumps were ground below grade with a very cool machine. Within a week, a gutter specialist came to repair the one minor mishap that occurred that day – a single dent. A minor inconvenience for not having 5 tons of diseased tree falling on us in our sleep. If you have read this far, you will gather that we are very satisfied with Tree Shepherds and recommend them highly.

Second time using this company and they’ve been very helpful and informative both times. We’ve learned a lot about the trees in our yard and they’re helping keep our large pecan trees healthy.

Tree Care Challenges in Flower Mound

Flower Mound’s landscapes are defined by mature native oak and pecan trees, rolling terrain, and well-cared for residential communities. Construction and development as well as natural conditions pose challenges to proper tree care. Compacted clay soils, drought, storm damage, construction-related root disturbance and over-watering can be stressful to trees. We outline tree care for Flower Mound residents and commercial properties that take this in mind. We don’t prescribe quick fixes, but seek to improve the growth and vitality of your trees. This improves the value as well as the appearance of your property.

Tree Pruning & Structural Care

Pruning in Flower Mound requires careful attention to a tree’s natural structure. At Tree Shepherds, we perform selective pruning to improve wind flow and remove dead or hazardous limbs. For mature shade trees, proper pruning can significantly reduce the likelihood of storm-related failures while preserving their natural beauty.
