We offer native mulch for pickup, and we can also deliver it for a fee. For $20 you can haul away as much mulch as you want.
We can also spread the mulch for you at $125 per hour if you want a full-service option.
Why our mulch is different
Our mulch is produced right here in Denton County and is not processed in any way. That means it often contains some leafy material, which adds both carbon and nitrogen to the soil. In other words, it is much closer to what naturally falls on a forest floor than the typical bagged mulch you’ll find at a store.
While this mulch is technically wood chips, it is excellent for soil health. As it breaks down, it turns into compost and helps create richer soil over time. It helps build healthier soil by adding organic matter, supporting beneficial microbes, reducing soil compaction, and improving water retention.
Great for sticker control and yard improvement
If you have stickers, also known as grass burs, this mulch can be a smart solution. A thick layer can help suppress unwanted growth while making it harder for stickers to keep coming back. We’ve even seen situations where a yard had been plagued by stickers for years, and after mulching, the Bermuda returned while the stickers did not.

Pickup and delivery options
You’re welcome to come pick up mulch directly from Tree Shepherds in Lake Dallas. We can load your pickup truck with a skid steer, and you can bring cardboard boxes, dog food bags, or any other container that works for you.

Delivery is available for a fee
We charge per mile for deliveries. Please be sure to confirm your distance and the cost with the office before we schedule a delivery.
There is a minimum delivery amount of about 17 cubic yards, which is roughly a full 16-foot dump trailer with high sides.
