Customer Requests: Improving Clearance and Canopy
A homeowner in Corinth, Texas, in a residential area south of Teasley, reached out to Tree Shepherds for professional tree trimming and pruning. They needed help with several concerns. Limbs needed to be pruned for clearance over the fence line, air conditioning (A/C) unit as well as over the sidewalk per requirements by their HOA. The customer also expressed a desire to have the canopies raised and cut to an even height in the backyard.
Before Pruning
Arborist Assessment
Stan Williams, ISA Certified Arborist, visited the property and evaluated the health and condition of all the trees on the property. After inspecting over 20 trees, including Post Oaks, Red Oaks, Crepe Myrtles and Ash trees, he identified limbs affected by Hypoxylon canker, large deadwood limbs and structural growth problems in several of the trees. A declining Post Oak was flagged in the backyard for removal, due to safety concerns.
To improve the structure and health of many of the oak trees, Stan recommended selective thinning of the external canopy for light penetration and weight reduction. This technique helps the tree manage strong winds and reduces limb breakage.
Stan’s recommendations enabled the arborist crew to properly prune the trees to suit the customer’s requests and needs, while encouraging healthy growth patterns and aiding in the reduction of decline.
Arborist Crew in Action
The crew, led by Joe Sansoucie, consisted of three ISA Certified Arborists and one expert crane operator. Two of the members are trained climbers. This allowed for the external and internal canopies to be expertly pruned without excess removal, according to Stan’s specifications and the homeowner’s requests.
Tree Shepherds’ pruning techniques are based on the company’s commitment to ANSI A300 standards. Crew members are trained and evaluated for performance and safety constantly.
Results
All the homeowner’s concerns and needs were addressed, and the recommendations by Stan were completed. The crew cleaned up and removed all the debris created by the work before leaving the property.
