Customer Requests: Reduce canopy over roof and remove sucker growth to improve appearance
Last week, a homeowner in Flower Mound, Texas, in a residential area south of FM 407, called Tree Shepherds in need of professional pruning. Several mature live oaks in the front yard as well as red oaks in the backyard needed limbs removed from over the roof and fence. Sucker growth on the Live oak had made the front yard look messy and needed to be cleaned up.
Arborist Assessment
John Pinney, ISA Certified Arborist, visited the Flower Mound home to assess all the trees and inspect the condition of the property. John’s evaluation of the mature Live oaks, red oaks and crape myrtles identified several large limbs on the Live oaks in need of removal due to their size and danger to the roof below. Tip-weight reductions on the Live oaks were deemed necessary to reduce chances of future limb failure. Sucker reduction was recommended up to 12 feet for a cleaner appearance across the yard.
Pruning of the crape myrtle in the front was recommended to improve roof clearance.
In the backyard, tip-weight reduction was also recommended for the red oaks, as well as internal canopy pruning to improve growth patterns and structure.
Removal of a dead red oak in the backyard was recommended for safety.
John’s recommendations and assessment matched the customer’s requests and needs, while encouraging healthy growth patterns and reducing risks of limb failure.
Arborist Crew in Action
The crew, consisting of two ISA Certified Arborists with climbing certification and one expert lift operator, completed the job in 8 hours. The climbing into the canopy as well as the use of the lift allowed for the external and internal canopies to be expertly pruned without unneeded limb reductions.
The company’s commitment to ANSI A300 standards and ongoing training for crew members ensures the highest level of professionalism and safety.
Results
